A Rare Chance To See Shakespeare’s King John

We’re delighted to let you know about this chance to see Shakespeare’s King John. Following the success of last year’s TIME OUT CRITICS CHOICE, five star, sell out production of the Shakespeare rediscovery DOUBLE FALSHOOD, award winning director Phil Willmott blows the dust off the bard’s unjustly neglected historical thriller. Combining the sweep of Henry V, the pitch black humour of Richard III, and all the court intrigue of Elsinore, King John is the story of a desperate monarch who’ll stop at nothing – lies, murder, even outright war – to strengthen his weakening grip on the kingdoms of England and France. Last year’s modern world premiere of the disputed Shakespeare romance Double Falsehood received international press and TV coverage and demand for tickets was so great it transferred to the West End for an extra week of performances; so early booking is recommended. A rare opportunity to experience a powerful fast moving study of monarchy in meltdown, unseen in London since the RSC’s 2001 production. The play runs from 17th January to 11th February at the Union Theatre near London’s Southbank.
