Come see Ridley Scott’s magnificent movie the only way to see it, on the big screen! Viewing it any other way means you haven’t really experienced this truly, immersive, ground-breaking film.

A wonderfully, beautiful masterpiece set in a futuristic Los Angeles, Blade Runner breaks ground for many films to copy, with its cyberpunk, film noir setting to the tones of Vangelis’s hypnotic score. Philip K Dick’s dystopian novel of humanoid robots (replicants) and a hero played by Harrison Ford (the ‘blade runner’ of the title) whose job is to hunt them down and eradicate them.

MICHAEL DEELEY is an Academy Award winning British movie producer with a singular Midas touch – nearly all of his pictures have attracted avid cult followings. He has worked with some of the world’s toughest film directors and lived to tell the tale. Few would imagine that one man links Ridley Scott’s visionary sci-fi classic BLADE RUNNER, Michael Cimino’s THE DEER HUNTER, and THE ITALIAN JOB, the much loved British caper that made an icon of Sir Michael Caine. His other challenges included defending the legendary sex scene of Nick Roeg’s DON’T LOOK NOW, ordering the controversial cutting of the original THE WICKER MAN, trekking up a New Mexico mountainside with David Bowie on THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH and seizing control of CONVOY from Sam Peckinpah. Michael Deeley was also the Owner of British Lion Films, President of EMI Films Inc. and is currently Honorary President of The British Screen Advisory Council.

MATTHEW FIELD began his writing career with ‘The Making Of The Italian Job.’ He has since produced and directed a feature length documentary on the film for Paramount Pictures. Matthew currently works for the leading entertainment public relations agency Premier PR overseeing the production of international press junkets, EPKs and associated film marketing materials. His most recent feature film credits include Stephen Frears’ upcoming Lance Armstrong biopic ICON, Michael Winterbottom’s THE FACE OF AN ANGEL, the Australian teen comedy NOW ADD HONEY and, currently in production, THE DRESSMAKER, starring Kate Winslet. Field collaborated with Deeley on his memoir, Blade Runners, Deer Hunters And Blowing The Bloody Doors Off, published in the UK by Faber & Faber.

The Duke of Burgundy + Q&A with director Peter Strickland

I chose this film because this is bound to be something unique and worthy of the title Non-Multiplex. A quote from the Director Peter Strickland, “When you make a film, be very tunnel-visioned and focus on your obsessions and not give a damn about trends or what an audience wants or not even yourself in terms of what they want from you based on your last film. ” He seems to have got it right as critics are loving it. A woman who studies butterflies and moths tests the limits of her relationship with her lover. Sidse Babet Knudsen (Borgen) and Chiara D’Anna play Cynthia and Evelyn, lovers caught up in a series of complex S&M games. Explores the privileges of victimhood and the nuances of what it means to suffer for love.

A tense, cerebral sci-fi about two men (played by Oscar Isaac – Inside Llewyn Davis and Domhnall Gleeson – About Time) testing the intelligence, and the sexuality, of an AI inside a robotic woman’s body.

‘Interstellar’­ UK exclusive advance screening

Currently riding high with a huge IMDB score greater than 9, come watch the movie with us, the Non-Multiplex Cinemagoers Group, at the UK exclusive advance screening at the Odeon Leicester Square, this Thursday 6th November, a day before nationwide release.

Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin.

With over an hour shot on 70mm film, there are only a handful of screens in the UK capable of screening this quality. Note that Digital IMAX screens use 2K/4K digital projectors whilst 70mm film delivers around 9K resolution.

The Odeon Leicester Square will be projecting straight off 70mm film print, using Cinemeccanica Victoria 10 film projectors, assuring the highest quality.

We have special access to the Royal Circle bar, regardless of the ticket you bought. Come join us upstairs there for a drink or two from 7pm, an hour before the screening at 8pm. This is a great opportunity to meet other filmmakers.

 Douglas Rae
Douglas Rae is Founder and CEO of Ecosse Films and is one of Britain’s most prolific producers. Ecosse has produced 14 films and over 300 hours of network television for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Showtime, Starz Channel and WGBH. Douglas’s first feature film, Mrs Brown, won 12 major international awards, a BAFTA nomination for Producer of the Year and two Oscar nominations. Other films he has produced include: Charlotte Gray (starring Cate Blanchett), Becoming Jane (with Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy), Nowhere Boy (the story of John Lennon’s childhood) and Wuthering Heights (directed by Andrea Arnold). On the television side of things, Douglas has executive produced such shows as My Boy Jack and the hugely successful BBC1 drama, Monarch of the Glen. More recently he has executive produced Fleming, a four part series on the creator of Bond (starring Dominic Cooper) for Sky Atlantic and BBC America; Mistresses, a 13 part series for ABC, based on Ecosse’s hit BBC1 series, and The Great Fire (for ITV, this autumn). Douglas is currently executive producing Life in Squares, a BBC2 drama about the Bloomsbury Group.

Robert Bernstein
Robert Bernstein joined Ecosse Films in 1994 to develop the drama department, subsequently becoming a director and partner in the company. After developing the script for Mrs. Brown in 1997 (directed by John Madden, starring Dame Judi Dench, winning 12 major international awards and two Oscar nominations), Robert went on to executive produce Charlotte Gray, a $25m feature for Film Four (directed by Gillian Armstrong).  He has since produced Wilderness (Ecosse Film’s first thriller, directed by Michael J. Bassett); Julian Jarrold’s Becoming Jane, the story of Jane Austen’s love affair and inspiration to become one of England’s greatest novelists; Water Horse, an adaptation of the Dick King Smith book (directed by Jay Russell); Julian Jarrold’s Brideshead Revisited; Sam Taylor Wood’s directorial debut, Nowhere Boy, and Andrea Arnold’s bold adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Anita Lewton
Anita Lewton is a film producer and screenwriter who has made award-winning independent shorts, features and documentaries for the international market.Currently a lecturer in Film and Broadcast at London Metropolitan University, Anita has taught and mentored on professional producing programmes for film academies in Romania, France, North Africa and India through the British Council / Women at Work exchange and various other European training programmes (Media Funds of the European Union). Anita first trained in drama as an actress and director, gaining a BA in Dramatic Art (University of London). After running several political touring theatre companies in the UK, she went on to study film-making at UCLA California (MA, Motion Picture Arts & Sciences). She returned to the UK to produce films, founding E2 Projects and, recently, Corazon Films UK, to work on international co-productions. Prior to academic teaching, Anita chaired a UK nationally funded film-maker association, New Producers Alliance, which trained and ran networks for emerging talent.
