Raindance Film Festival – Open for submissions

Call for entries to the Oscar-qualifying 20th Raindance Film Festival!
Raindance is Europe’s largest independent film festival, screening 150 shorts, 20 documentaries and 80 feature films. The 20th Raindance Film Festival will be held in central London between 26 September – 7 October 2012.
Raindance awards 3 prizes for Short Films during the Festival:
Best International Short / Best UK Short / Film of the Festival* (*The winner is offered the chance to film next year’s Raindance Film Festival trailer)
They now are an Academy Award qualifying festival for Shorts!
Recipients of Raindance’s ‘Film of the Festival’ prize will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the requirement of the standard theatrical run.

Kino Film Calls For Submissions & Volunteers

Call for Submissions
Manchester’s Kino Film have a few events in the making and are looking for several special categories of shorts as follows: Short films from women filmmakers for a Women in Film event; Short films by red head filmmakers or films where the central character is a red- head, for a special Red Head film event to celebrate National Red Head day later this year; Student films for a North West Student showcase; and short films by Salford filmmakers for a special Salford showcase in June. These are in addition to their normal open call for submissions for Manchester and North West shorts. Volunteers Wanted
They are also urgently seeking volunteers to help with the planning of the festival, with research, marketing, sponsorship and helping them to strengthen their links with Universities & develop new partnerships for 2012/3. Vintage Kino coming this Tuesday

The next Vintage Kino event will be at Manchester’s The Three Minute Theatre, Aflecks Arcade, Oldham Street, M1 1JG. They’ve trawled though their archive of 16mm film cans to put a memorable film proramme together.
 
They promise you won’t be disappointed. Even come in vintage dress to suit if you so wish (not obligatory but feel free to dress as you wish to suit the ambiance of the night).

Expect as usual some Pathe News reels to kick of the programme followed by some vintage animation, classic comedy and some real curios peieces from their education and information archive. They’ll also have a rarely sceened award winning short film.

Doors open at 7.30 to give you time to relax and get in the mood to some vintage music and drinks will be served by the delightful Gina (proprietor of this fine establishment).

Tickets: Just £3.50 on the door (unfortunately, they don’t accept vintage coins or notes!)

Programme starts at 7.45 – ish and there will be an intermission half way. Expect FREE ICE CREAM in the intermission and the the whirl of the projector in the background.

Gorilla Film Magazine Issue 4 – Out Now

The latest issue of Gorilla Film Magazine is out now. Jam packed with all the usual reviews of great short films, filmmaking tips like how to fund your movie or get the most out of that old tripod. Plus interviews with some very down to earth (if a little tired) filmmakers, a top five list of the sexiest movie monsters and various other exciting bits and bobs. Easily their best issue yet. Snakegully’s Chillout Sunday – Coming Soon!

Snakegully Productions is to host another short film afternoon in a relaxed informal manner.

The date is Sunday 17th June from 2pm onwards and the event will go on until the early evening. They are looking for shorts films of all genres, animation, music videos, mocumentary, documentary, art films or film trailers for new features.

Next Rotoreliefs Event – This Monday!
